Oil Heat Line Law

Homeowner's have until September 30, 2011 to upgrade their home heating system equipment to comply with new Massachusetts state law. In order to decrease the likelihood of an oil spill the law requires the installation of an oil safety valve or an oil supply line with a protective sleeve. If your oil heating system was installed after January 1, 1990 you may already be under compliance. However, if your oil line is unprotected please call or email us to schedule a time most convenient for you to have one of our licensed technicians come out and install a new oil line.

Also, beginning July 1,2010, in accordance with the new state law insurance providers are required to offer coverage to homeowners for the costs of leaks and clean ups. Once your oil line is in compliance acquiring coverage is as simple as having your oil line inspected and Form 1A signed by one of our licensed technicians and sent to your local fire department and insurance company. Click here for Form 1A.

At Devaney we have been recommending that customers upgrade oil lines long before this law came into effect. Your safety and comfort are important to us and this is why it is critical your oil line is up to date. If you have any questions regarding this law, or would like one of our licensed technicians to come out and confirm your compliance please do not hesitate to call us at 617-964-8383 or email us.
