A Message from James Devaney

The year 2009 marks the 75th anniversary of James Devaney Fuel Company. My grandfather started this company in 1934, providing homes and businesses in the area with ice, coal, range oil, heating oil and equipment service. My father, now happily retired, continued the tradition and now I represent the third generation of ownership. Much has changed over the years. Coal and range oil have all but disappeared and there is obviously no need for ice as it was once used. Technological advancements have provided us with cleaner burning, more efficient heating systems, and heating oil has remained the best heating option over time. Our company has grown significantly over the years and today we are proud to say we are one of the largest privately held, family owned fuel oil dealers in Massachusetts.

Our growth can be attributed to many factors - from our dedicated, talented employees and our reliable, trustworthy suppliers to our commitment to the community. However, the single most important reason for our success is the loyalty and support from you, our valued customers. I realize that you have many choices in heating oil dealers and therefore I do not take your patronage for granted. I believe that the only way to maintain your loyalty is to constantly strive to improve our service and to see that you are receiving the best overall value. My philosophy is that a mutually beneficial relationship is one that will last.
